A Celebration of Connection
The VGS Zinfandel Tasting
Wine isn’t just about what’s in the glass—it’s about the people who share it.

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of hosting a dinner that became one of the most memorable tasting experiences I’ve ever had. It began when club members shared their recent auction win: a bottle of VGS Zinfandel 1998. To complement their find, I opened a selection of vintages from my private cellar that had never seen the light of day—1996, 1997, 1999, and 2005. Together, we had five VGS Zinfandels spanning nearly three decades—an opportunity too rare and remarkable to pass up.

Moments like these remind us of the magic that happens when we share something extraordinary. Wine is a connection, a story, and an experience to be shared.

Wine of the Month
2021 VGS Cabernet Sauvignon, Mt. Veeder
This wine is an elegant expression of pure, fresh fruit—something rare today.

In 1983, Jean-Noel left Bordeaux with a vision to create wines in Napa Valley that broke free from tradition, embracing creativity, elegance, and fun. Mount Veeder, with its steep slopes, volcanic soils, and cool mountain air, was the perfect place to bring that vision to life. Farming these rugged hillsides has never been easy, but the results have always spoken for themselves.

Our Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon is far from the traditional, heavy, one-dimensional wines you find elsewhere. It’s bold yet refined, with vibrant dark fruit, rich spice, and a distinct touch of mountain minerality. It’s always been that wine that challenges expectations, and captures the adventurous, forward-thinking spirit that defines us at VGS Chateau Potelle.
